Welcome PSUW!

In Welcome on April 2, 2010 at 9:48 am

Welcome to performing songwriters from the world over. This is a space that respects the diversity of music and the people who create and share it. This is an organization intent upon fostering connections among artists at a time when it appears the music industry is in a state of disarray.

It is a well-known fact that ‘from out of chaos emerges order’, a natural order, an order that is not ‘ordered down’ from the authorities or powers that be, but rather one that is organic and born from the needs of those on the ground. If you don’t believe it, look at what happens in the face of natural disasters such as earthquakes and tsunamis. People come together and help one another.

What does this have to do with us? Artists are the creators and content providers of music in this case, and we have an important role to play in this new ‘order’ that is emerging in the music industry as it is today – complex with the record business in near shambles and other facets of the ‘industry’ pressurized because of it. Can you expect to have a place if you don’t raise your voice? What is the sound of one voice – ‘one hand clapping’ – compared to a chorus? It is hoped that this is a place you’ll bookmark and come back to weekly to share your views on the posts placed here. These are, essentially, the archives of the Friday Updates that started on Facebook in June 2009.

It is suggested you subscribe to these by hitting the RSS button, as Facebook does not allow updates to members after 5,000 join a group. We’re well on our way. Stay in touch here. We’re still sorting out our future home, but at least you will be in the loop here.

Best,

Lorelei Loveridge, Founder/Rabble Rouser of PSUW and her Facebook page, which she invites you to join.

Loveridge’s creative homeĀ Orderly Bazaar, an artist-owned boutique label – essentially, a globally mobile music adventure company – and multi-media publishing company specialized in ‘roots, rock, ethnic, jazz, fusion and other travel-related shenanigans’, dedicated to building community wherever and by whatever means possible. Orderly Bazaar is on a humble mission to change the nature of things in the developing world.

(In need of a new web designer. Sadly, Dan Nash – muso, friend and web master – died unexpectedly the week he was to begin re ‘ordering’ Orderly Bazaar and its affiliated sites. Get in touch within, if you’re able to help and you have a competent command of both design and aggregating information out over the internet. Peace!)
